After attending my first Odd Future concert on July 22nd,2011 and every concert they had after, I always wondered when will I see Frank Ocean live and witness his greatness? Frank Ocean usually only performs at festivals or the Odd Future LA shows. Frank Ocean use to be scared to perform live so I honestly thought I was never going to see him unless I catch him in LA. Beyond the shadow of doubt my dream was finally coming true Frank Ocean was going on tour and coming to the Bay Area. I was completely in shock after witnessing his journey of climbing up the ladder of success since 2010. July 16th, 2012 Frank Ocean live at The Regency ballroom in San Francisco, Ca. I consistently arrive at general admission shows super early especially when it comes to Odd Future I come at 12-1pm. On my way to the Frank Ocean show unfortunately, our car broke down then we had to wait for another car which caused us to arrive at 4pm. By the time we got the Regency Ballroom the line for Frank Ocean was so long went down 3 blocks. Once they let everyone in some how my friends and I managed to get to the front, we were so use to always being in front of shows anyways. The crowd was exceedingly diverse, mainly guys everyone of all races. Which had me a little shocked, because since him coming out I thought most guys were going to reject seeing him live. After waiting two hours in the venue for Frank Ocean to perform, once he did I noticed majority of people around me, had faces were filled with tears. He began his set with the song “Thinking Bout You”, then he performed many songs off his newest album Channel Orange, such as “Super Rich Kids”, “Pyramid”, “Forrest Gump”, “Sweet Life” and more. He also performed a few songs off of his notable Nostalgia mixtape, such as “Strawberry Swing”, and “Novacane”. . Throughout the whole concert everyone was screaming all the lyrics from the top of their lungs, then Odd Future members Hodgy Beats and Tyler the creator made an appearance. Although the concert was only like an hour and ten minutes it was earnestly one of the greatest concerts I have ever attended. This show was seriously the greatest r&b concert I’ve ever been to though. Witnessing Frank Ocean’s greatness while he perpetuates his love for music, he was also playing the keyboard and singing from his heart he is truly a great artist. In my opinion r&b never died and Grammy nominee, Frank Ocean is one of the main artist keeping it alive.
